About the Event

Art is a language. The best way to familiarize yourself with this language is to take action by drawing and painting from nature.

Join us for a one-day workshop in the magnificent Les Glycines garden

in Nesles la Vallée! Sam Rachamin will teach you the premier coup/alla prima technique.

This day is designed to offer you a fine balance between learning a rigorous artistic technique and a pleasant day out. You'll work at your own pace, enjoying the scenery and ambience of the region that once attracted such illustrious painters as Pissaro, Van Gogh and Monet.

This course is suitable for all levels, beginners, amateurs and professionals. It will be taught in English and French.

Program

10:00 am: Les Glycines garden welcomes us with a morning brioche and a cup of hot coffee.

10:15am: we can start our first painting session in the garden

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: we'll break for lunch. You can bring your own lunch or buy something to eat on site for 15€ (a slice of quiche from the famous boulangerie du Moulin + a salad + a dessert and a drink).

2pm: we start our second painting session.

5:00 p.m.: we'll finish painting/drawing and have a little chat about the day's production.

6:00 pm: we conclude the day.

Materials

We don't provide any materials for this workshop, but here are Sam's recommendations:

For this workshop, I encourage you to work with oil paint. However, if you are familiar with another technique (gouache, acrylic, watercolor...) you can of course bring and use your own materials.

Here's the recommended list of equipment for oil painting:

Paints: titanium white, cadmium lemon yellow, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, burnt sienna, raw umber, cadmium red, ultra marine blue, phthalo blue, cobalt blue, cadmium green, phthalo green.

In addition, you'll need rags, at least two painting surfaces and a garbage bag.

Note: we'll be working outdoors, so please bring weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable shoes, drinking water, sunscreen if necessary, a hat or coat, and let's hope it's a nice day!

Cancellation and refund

In case of light rain, we can work under awnings.

If the weather turns out to be really incompatible with the outdoor workshop, we will postpone it, and if you are not available, you will receive a full refund.

If you wish to cancel your participation in the workshop, please do so at least 2 days in advance, otherwise you will not be reimbursed (with the exception of extreme cases such as illness or other last-minute emergencies).
