On the way back from Avignon, I was thinking about beauty and why we strive to paint beautiful paintings.
Beauty - a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight (definition from the internet). I would say it is the coincidentel or non coincidentel form or structure that embodys perfection, (depends on the subject matter or beliefs system of the observer) .
For me it is also the manifestation of nature at its peak , searching for beauty is searching for meaning, the more beauty we find in life the more meaningful our life's are.
There is a certain joy and happiness about people searching for it and creating paintings form observation,
